Salary: $28.85 hourly for 50 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time – On the road job
Location: Surrey, BC
Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Travel expenses paid by employer, Valid driver’s licence, and Willing to travel for extended periods
Work setting: Various locations

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation, and Trip reports
Communication systems experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, and Trip recorder (on-board computer)
Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul
Credentials: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement and Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check and Drug test

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should have attention to detail and be capable of handling heavy loads
• The candidates should be comfortable with sitting

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and exercise good judgement
• The candidates should be organized, demonstrate reliability, and be a team player

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
• If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, load and unload goods, and obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• The candidates should be able to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, and pay and receive payments for goods
• The candidates should be able to perform brake adjustments, emergency roadside repairs, and pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
• The candidates should be able to perform preventive maintenance, receive and relay information to central dispatch, and record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
• The candidates should be able to tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo
