Schedule: Weekdays, Weekends, Days, Nights, Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings and Assigned Shift

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of secondary school education
Experience: Candidates should have general custodial or housekeeping experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available for up to 24 hours per week, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • The candidates should be available for primary hours at RIM Park from 6 PM to 2 AM, and at WMRC from 3 PM to 9 PM on weekdays and 11 AM to 7 PM on weekends
  • The candidates should be aware that a shift premium applies between the hours of 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM
  • The candidates should be able to plan daily tasks and organize their workload with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have access to reliable transportation as work hours may be outside of public transportation operations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the team and the general public
  • The candidates should have a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment
  • The candidates should have a strong commitment to delivering quality customer service and basic understanding of health and safety principles, such as the safe handling of cleaning products and the safe use of equipment
  • The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • The candidates should provide a Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City
  • The candidates should provide proof of their current and valid certificate(s), licenses, and educational qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in the day-to-day maintenance of City of Waterloo recreation facilities and ensure equipment is properly maintained
  • The candidates should be able to ensure facilities are maintained at a high level of housekeeping and are ready for use
  • The candidates should be able to patrol the cleaning of washrooms and the collection of garbage and recycling and provide excellent customer service to users of the facility
  • The candidates should be able to sweep and mop, including dust mopping, washrooms, hallways, and banquet halls
  • The candidates should be able to perform auto scrubbing of floors, clean rink side change rooms and help meet requirements for programs and special events
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe environment for coworkers and the general public
  • The candidates should be able to identify and report any safety hazards or damage to the facility or equipment
  • The candidates should be able to communicate and interact effectively with other facility staff and coworkers
  • The candidates should be able to perform opening and closing duties, including key holding responsibilities
