Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a safe food handling certification
Experience: Candidates should have previous work experience with food and beverage preparation

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be at least 15 years of age and available to work up to 24 hours per week, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • The candidates should be aware that hours of work may be outside of public transportation operation hours
  • The candidates should have a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous customer service experience and a strong commitment to delivering quality customer service
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with other members of the Food Services team, City staff, and the general public
  • The candidates should have previous cash-handling skills and experience balancing revenues
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the team and the general public
  • The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • The candidates should provide a Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City
  • The candidates should provide proof of their current and valid certificate(s), licenses, and educational qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare and serve concession food and beverages at the City of Waterloo’s recreation facilities in a professional, efficient, and healthy manner, including performing catering duties
  • The candidates should be able to respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests, and effectively resolve customer concerns and complaints
  • The candidates should be able to handle daily cash transactions and associated reporting, including reconciling and balancing revenues
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with regulations and safe food handling procedures
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a clean and sanitary work area and provide excellent customer service to the public
