Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 2-year diploma in Interior Design
Experience: Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in commercial office interior design

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong critical thinking skills with a well-developed problem-solving ability
  • The candidates should be able to work both independently as well as in a team environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a completed with a degree or applied degree in Interior Design with at least 5 years of experience in commercial office interior design
  • The candidates should have formal training and extensive experience in programming, design development, detail design, construction documents, and contract administration
  • The candidates should have experience with corporate space management, including acquisition of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF and E), space planning, and moves coordination
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Building Code and intermediate proficiency in using AutoCAD
  • The candidates should be able to adapt to constantly changing priorities and possess strong organizational skills
  • The candidates should be prepared to be tested for appropriate skills and provide proof of qualifications upon successful application

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide integrated facility and interior design services for interior spaces within The City of Calgary owned and leased buildings
  • The candidates should be able to work with authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws, providing sustainable furniture, material, and finish selections and specifications
  • The candidates should be able to assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing corporate space and furniture standards
  • The candidates should be able to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and properly maintain project documentation and provide space planning, working drawings, and space allocation
  • The candidates should be able to assist the Interior Design Team Supervisor in supervising the project work of Workspace Designers and Intern Workspace Designers
  • The candidates should be able to act as a resource regarding space planning, working drawings, Building Code, Fire and Safety Code, and space and furniture standards
  • The candidates should be able to coach and mentor Workspace Designers through training, product education, and process reviews
  • The candidates should be able to interpret client needs into design solutions and create presentations to clients
  • The candidates should be able to advise clients on the appropriate use of space, furniture, and materials to suit their specific requirements
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain standards and maintain drawings and data information systems
