Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have five years of journalism experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and be prepared for a selection interview
- The candidates should be willing to undergo testing (general knowledge, French language and writing)
- The candidates should have the ability to work well under pressure and independently and comply with the requirements for a healthy work environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess extensive general knowledge and in-depth knowledge of Quebec, national, and international affairs
- The candidates should have knowledge of newsroom logistics and excellent knowledge of French, with advanced proficiency in English
- The candidates should have the ability to analyze, synthesize, and think critically about complex issues
- The candidates should have newsroom assignment experience and knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide backfill coverage for the assignment team on weekdays or weekends, based on operational requirements, as these are on-call positions
- The candidates should be able to coordinate the work of reporters assigned to cover regional, national, or international news for various platforms, as needed, in the role of National Assignment Editor based in Montreal, vet and edit reporters’ copy
- The candidates should be able to consult, plan, assign, and coordinate newsgathering resources to cover the most relevant and impactful stories and events in compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate initiative and sound editorial judgment in their role and report directly to the Managing Editor
