Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of university degree
Experience: Candidates should have three years of practical experience in the relevant field

  • The candidates should be proactive and able to work independently and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural communities
  • The candidates should have sound editorial judgment and the ability to work flexible hours and weekends
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively with various teams and also be a strong self-starter
  • The candidates should have a critical mindset and proven ability to work in a high-stress, tight-deadline environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a combination of education and experience equivalent to a  plus relevant experience, or a college diploma and five years of practical, relevant experience in the field
  • The candidates should possess excellent writing, storytelling, and interviewing skills for both digital and broadcast media
  • The candidates should be comfortable with live reporting, be bilingual in English and French and knowledge of issues affecting New Brunswick and local communities
  • The candidates should be familiar with CBC/Radio-Canada’s journalistic and programming policies
  • The candidates should have an understanding of the public broadcaster’s role and responsibilities
  • The candidates should be familiar with in-house production tools Dalet, MediaCentral, iNEWS, Scoop, Hindenburg, Adobe Premiere and Avid
  • The candidates should be proficient with photography, video, and editing tools and be able to use lighting kits and experience working on multiple stories simultaneously
  • The candidates should have a valid driver’s licence and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company and possess strong organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain a network of contacts to gather relevant information for reporting
  • The candidates should be able to pitch story ideas and present them effectively to the team, gather and research information on local issues and events to provide accurate, timely reporting
  • The candidates should be able to arrange and conduct interviews, ensuring comprehensive coverage of subjects
  • The candidates should be able to shoot, edit, write, and present reports for all media platforms, ensuring content is engaging and well-crafted
  • The candidates should be able to create photo galleries, produce photo essays, take portraits, and archive photos for Picto
  • The candidates should be able to deliver live hits during programs or newscasts, maintaining composure under pressure
  • The candidates should be able to attend daily assignment meetings to discuss and prioritize stories for coverage
