Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients and be committed to working cooperatively with clients and members of the interdisciplinary team

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or another university degree relevant to the practice of counseling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
  • The candidates should be a member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO) or in the process of registration and an in-depth understanding of mental health and addiction issues
  • The candidates should have the ability to refer children with mental health and addiction problems to appropriate services
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about the mental health community resources available and access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license
  • The candidates should be open to the customs and habits of other cultures and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge and ability to use basic computer software and excellent knowledge of oral and written French and English

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to process applications for the child and youth mental health program in accordance with established procedures and assess the strengths and needs of children, youth, and parents using standardized tools such as the CHMYN and other relevant assessments
  • The candidates should be able to prepare service plans for children and youth, incorporating reports, meetings, and assessments, and ensure regular reviews
  • The candidates should be able to provide counseling, education, and support to promote emotional, social, behavioral, and relationship wellbeing in the context of daily life
  • The candidates should be able to conduct case presentations to the mental health team, working closely with the clinical manager and consult with the clinical manager during their probation period and follow the requirements set by their professional college
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate client interventions and document results prior to file closure and ensure that a comprehensive service plan is developed, reviewed regularly, and accurately summarized before transfer or closure of a file
  • The candidates should be able to deliver psychoeducational programs in response to community requests and refer families and youth to specialized services as necessary, coordinating care across multiple providers
  • The candidates should be able to develop and facilitate educational and support groups tailored to children, adolescents, and parents and organize workshops and activities aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues
  • The candidates should be able to serve on community tables or committees, communicating the needs of clients and collaborating with other agencies for better service delivery
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with community agencies to ensure access to French language services and share information with the mental health team and maintain records, program statistics, and report on activities for evaluation and research purposes
  • The candidates should be able to promote overall health and community development, ensuring comprehensive support for all aspects of an individual’s life and perform other related duties
