Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Experience with special needs children: Children with behavioral issues
Credentials: Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1), First Aid Certificate, And CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, And Vulnerable Sector Check

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to handle physically demanding tasks and pay attention to detail
• The candidates should be able to manage a combination of sitting, standing, and walking and perform bending, crouching, and kneeling

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and possess efficient interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication
• The candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility, interpersonal awareness, and sound judgement while being reliable and a team player
• The candidates should value ethics, show creativity and honesty, and have the ability to multitask effectively

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
• The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
• The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors and discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
• The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
