Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed high school
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, as shifts, hours will vary based on operational needs. The length of shifts varies according to the events taking place at Canadian Blood Services’ fixed and mobile donor centers
- The candidates should be available to work shifts that include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should be willing to travel for mobile events in the community, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should meet the physical requirements of the role, including the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed an accredited training program in phlebotomy or have one year of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs. Previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- The candidates should be fluent in a second language, which is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to leverage superb people skills and the ability to communicate effectively with donors to conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility, building and promoting a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to utilize excellent customer service skills to monitor donors for safety and comfort, provide post-donation care, and respect donor privacy
- The candidates should be able to draw on knowledge or experience in following procedures to ensure the safe processing and handling of blood products
- The candidates should be able to use excellent interpersonal skills to work with others and assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components, which save lives daily
- The candidates should be able to assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment at mobile events within communities to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use
