Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a degree or diploma in journalism or broadcasting
Experience: Candidates should have experience in journalism and media
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to work in a dynamic group environment, the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deliver under tight deadlines
- The candidates should demonstrate superior communication, writing, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should have proficient computer skills, including knowledge of newsroom computer software, demonstrate a team-focused attitude
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, both oral and written, knowledge of the cultural and political landscape in BC
- The candidates should have experience writing, producing, and reporting broadcast news content, field experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to generate fresh, compelling, and original story ideas, respond to breaking news quickly and accurately
- The candidates should be able to edit, chase, report, and voice stories for the newscast, work under tight deadlines to file accurate and timely news stories
- The candidates should be able to interview experts, guests, and sources within the community, translate and repackage stories for different platforms or audiences
- The candidates should be able to participate actively in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas, provide back-up anchoring
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned to support newsroom operations
