Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of certification with the Welding Bureau (CWB)
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to read, comprehend, and explain complex technical information and operating and maintenance procedures
  • The candidates should be able to effectively deliver a comprehensive range of training programs to diverse groups in classroom settings, actual work situations, large and small groups, and on a one-on-one basis
  • The candidates should have abilities normally acquired through a related community college program, and several years of directly related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidates should have sound knowledge of, and the ability to apply, adult education principles, instruction, assessment, testing and evaluation techniques, research methods, and program design and development methodologies

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a certified Trainer in Track Welding and proficient in Brazing, Oxy Acetylene, and other skills obtained through a Technical program offered by Skilled Trades (Welder-Fitter or Welding Techniques Program)
  • The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of track welding (Continuous Welded Rail and/or Thermite Welding) and track system principles and practices associated with preventative/corrective maintenance procedures for subway, SRT, and surface track systems and related electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, equipment, and facilities
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, analytical, interpersonal, group facilitation, coaching/counselling, and leadership skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge of personal computers and computerized applications related to the work, a 2-year certificate and Red Seal certification (considered an asset) and be able to assume the roles of a Rail Maintenance Officer.
  • The candidates should have be able to obtain, a community college certificate in Training and Development, or the equivalent, and have or obtain a specific accreditation to deliver and certify employees through various training programs.
  • The candidates should have working experience with Continuous Welded Rail (CWR) and be proficient in Thermite Welding using both Orgo and Pandrol weld kits.
  • The candidates should possess a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” driver’s license, rapidly acquire, a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and deliver track welding and track technical training programs for subway, SRT, and surface track systems
  • The candidates should be able to create criteria, standards, and guidelines for needs assessments, instructional design, program delivery, and evaluation of training initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all training programs comply with internal standards, operational procedures, and external regulatory requirements
  • The candidates should be able to conduct research and design or evaluate instructional materials, testing tools, and procedures to ensure reliability and validity
  • The candidates should be able to write and edit training manuals, instructional guides, and technical documents for track welding and track operations
  • The candidates should be able to conduct quality assurance evaluations of track welders and other track employees on an ongoing basis
  • The candidates should be able to perform tests on welding specimens and issue qualifying credentials to Track Welders upon successful assessment
  • The candidates should be able to perform periodic quality assurance checks on technical track training modules, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures
  • The candidates should be able to uphold standards of respect, dignity, and accessibility in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code when interacting with passengers and employees, especially individuals with disabilities
