Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a two year community college program in Environmental Technician
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to follow technical procedures, traffic regulations, and other safety procedures while maintaining acceptable housekeeping practices at all times
- The candidates should be able to meet the physical requirements of working in a laboratory setting, including moving lab equipment, sampling equipment, sample bottles, and boxes
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory techniques to complete laboratory analyses accurately and in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- The candidates should have strong math skills and proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and related programs
- The candidates should possess a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing for the duration of employment
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform sampling and monitoring of various discharges to the municipal storm and sanitary sewer systems
- The candidate should be able to clean, maintain, and calibrate sampling and flow monitoring equipment regularly and maintain parts inventory
- The candidate should be able to perform various laboratory analyses on sanitary and stormwater samples and submit samples to commercial laboratories
- The candidate should be able to prepare chemical standards and reagents for laboratory use and maintain an inventory of chemicals and laboratory equipment
- The candidate should be able to maintain accurate records and ensure all laboratory QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) protocols are followed daily
- The candidate should be able to update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the Wastewater Compliance laboratory and maintain a current inventory of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- The candidate should be able to provide technical assistance related to laboratory processes, procedures, or certification activities
- The candidate should be able to inspect and maintain safety equipment on a regular basis, assist Compliance Inspectors in resolving sewer use issues and perform any other duties related to Wastewater Compliance
