Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed an accredited nursing program and hold a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of experience working as a nurse; certification in First Aid and CPR
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate varying shifts based on operational needs; shift length will vary depending on events at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should be willing to travel for mobile events within the community; transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should meet the physical requirements of the role, including the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have previous experience as a preceptor or in coaching others, possess technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and be able to learn new systems and programs
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to communicate effectively with donors to conduct registration and confidential eligibility screening, fostering a positive donor experience
- The candidate should be able to provide clear information, instruction, and advice to donors regarding the blood donation process
- The candidate should be able to coach and consult donor centre staff and act as team lead during blood collection events
- The candidate should be able to collaborate in a diverse team environment to assist in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components
- The candidate should be able to support the setup of mobile donor clinics by assembling booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure readiness and efficiency
