Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a post-secondary degree in a related discipline from a recognized academic institution
Experience: Candidates should have at least ten years of experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment that follows Good Manufacturing Practices
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- The candidates should possess effective interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and discretion, and to coach and facilitate discussions that promote a culture of quality
- The candidates should be capable of thinking systemically and anticipating the impacts of decisions on people, systems, and processes
The candidates should be willing to travel occasionally for work-related purposes, be prepared to act as a designate for the Manager or Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance, be physically capable of lifting weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should hold a Certificate in Quality Management Systems and be a certified Quality Engineer, or be actively working toward certification
- The candidates should have with a minimum of five years focused on Quality Management and Continuous Improvement
- The candidates should have a thorough understanding of applicable standards and regulations, including Health Canada’s Blood and Blood Component Regulations, CSA standards for Blood, Cells, Tissues, and Organs, and AABB standards for Cellular Therapy and Blood Bank and Transfusion Services
- The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) elements
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide the organization with assurance that products and services consistently meet requirements by maintaining control in manufacturing and clinical services processes and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards
- The candidates should be able to ensure the appropriate application of Quality System processes, including document management, validation, change control, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions), auditing, training, quality control, and quality event management
- The candidates should be able to educate staff on the importance of Good Manufacturing Practices as defined by Canadian Blood Services’ Quality Management System and how these principles apply to the organization’s activities
- The candidates should be able to assist the organization in monitoring and continuously improving the quality of its products and services by collecting and analyzing data, facilitating root cause analysis, leading investigations, and monitoring improvements
- The candidates should be able to perform work in accordance with Canadian Blood Services’ Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedure
