Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work within strict, established safety and work guidelines to complete tasks effectively
  • The candidates should be able to obtain all required CPKC certifications related to specific tasks and assignments
  • The candidates should be available to work various shifts and days off, as CPKC operates 24/7, including weekends and holidays

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess an Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification in the trade of Machinist, strong problem-solving and computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine the machining operations to be performed, and plan the best sequence of operations
  • The candidates should be able to set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
  • The candidates should be able to verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) or other specialized measuring instruments
  • The candidates should be able to report deviations from specifications and tolerances to the supervisor, complete and maintain inspection reports
