Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience performing janitorial duties
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be legally entitled to work in Canada, be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position, which may include moderate lifting, bending, walking, sitting, and standing for long periods of time
- The candidate should be ready, willing, and able to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, as well as travel and work in other outlying areas within the Region
- The candidate should possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence, work with paints, solvents, and chemicals
- The candidate should be able to wear personal protective equipment as and work independently and effectively under minimal supervision
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have experience performing grounds maintenance tasks, strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with the public and staff
- The candidate should have experience operating and maintaining equipment such as gas-powered trimmers, ride-on lawnmowers, and 1/2-ton trucks
- The candidate should have experience performing building maintenance tasks, knowledge of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform janitorial duties to ensure cleanliness and sanitation within provincial park facilities
- The candidate should be able to carry out physical maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of park infrastructure and amenities
- The candidate should be able to operate and maintain small hand and power tools safely and effectively
- The candidate should be able to safely maintain public infrastructure within Asessippi, Rainbow Beach, or Manipogo Provincial Parks, and occasionally other parks or wayside areas within the Region
- The candidate should be able to follow directions from the Park Works Supervisor and work both independently and as part of a team
