Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the application of prescribed modules of the MEA training program
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and related mathematics as they apply to telecommunications, control, and metering equipment and circuitry
- The candidate should have knowledge of instruments and test equipment used in checking electrical and electronic circuits, typically acquired through Grade XII education plus intermediate related courses
- The candidate should have experience related to commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of a wide range of equipment related to metering and telecommunications, experience with various computerized software and hardware applications to transfer data files and perform testing on remote metering
- The candidate should have experience with meter pulse circuits, interposing relays, pulse recorders (Rims Units), and KYS terminology and operation, up to four years of experience to gain
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to carry out work involving meter reverifications, sampling meters, managing overdue meters, and providing annual testing on a wide range of metering equipment, perform testing using meter analyzers (such as Northwoods Data Logger or BMI) and meter software PQ Inspector or PC Pro Plus
- The candidate should be able to maintain accurate records for reverifications and the meter testing program, receive work assignments with general discussion from Meter and Relay Services or the Supervisor
- The candidate should be able to arrange with Zone, Operating Area, or external personnel for joint action and assistance to resolve scheduling problems of mutual interest, perform prescribed and scheduled visual, instrument, mechanical, and electrical checks of equipment, comparing results with standard requirements
- The candidate should be able to clean, check, make replacements, and carry out refer unusual problems, such as the need to upgrade metering to standard, to the Supervisor, prepare and forward pertinent reports on work performed to the Supervisor or Meter and Relay Services, including recording data, problems encountered, empirical solutions applied, and evidence supporting the need for further work
- The candidate should be able to select and order standard metering equipment for new installations and service upgrades, size equipment according to customer load estimates, install a variety of standard metering equipment, including MIST and MOST metering and embedded generator installations, with telecommunications connections for new customers
- The candidate should be able to respond to customer requests for interval meter upgrades by scoping work and costs, managing customer relationships, and initiating billing through CSS, receive work assignments through office routine or Supervisor for metering installations
- The candidate should be able to coordinate with Zone, Operating Area, or external personnel for direction and assistance, prepare and forward reports on work performed, including data, problems encountered, and evidence supporting the need for further work
- The candidate should be able to carry out initial inspections and testing of metering installations within specified timeframes to verify readiness and compliance with regulatory standards (Measurement Canada, D.S.C, use CM evaluators, metering analyzers, and meter software to check metering accuracy
- The candidate should be able to arrange joint actions or assistance with Zone, Operating Area, or external personnel to resolve problems or mutual requirements, refer unusual problems to the Supervisor and prepare comprehensive reports on work performed
