Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of high school education
Experience: Candidates should have one year of experience for one year

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have some high school education and one year of related experience or directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education (for Park Maintenance Worker 2 – Maintenance Service Worker 2)
  • The candidates should possess a Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent and be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract
  • The candidates should be prepared to provide an acceptable 5-year commercial Driver’s Abstract, hold a current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate
  • The candidates should have experience with hand and power tools and a good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and safety of small equipment
  • The candidates should have experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions, possess a chainsaw certification
  • The candidates should have exceptional communication skills and a comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform lawn maintenance and minor repairs of facilities, carry out routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities
  • The candidates should be able to operate mowers, weed wackers, and small hand tools safely and efficiently, respond to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to complete trail and signage projects in a timely and accurate manner, report all maintenance concerns in accordance with procedures
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate familiarity with and practice all pertinent occupational health and safety (OH&S) policies, procedures, and protocols, including the Facility Emergency Response Plan
  • The candidates should be able to complete administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses
