Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post-secondary education focused on Operational Management
Experience: Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in a Health and Safety and Environmental role

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should demonstrate commitment to process safety as part of corporate culture, responsibility, and accountability, a high regard and respect for confidentiality
  • The candidate should have the ability to recognize hazards, drive continual improvement, and promote alternatives for risk reduction and risk control measures

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have safety as a personal priority, experience in project management and implementation Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher
  • The candidate should have experience and training in OHS and environmental programs, Health and Safety and/or Environmental certifications
  • The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, superior knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to track, trend, and analyze Health & Safety data from ACM systems on a regional level, and make actionable safety improvement recommendations to the Director of H&S, Training, and Qualifications, with the flexibility to assist in other regions
  • The candidate should be able to manage ACM Health & Safety reporting systems, including but not limited to Safety Information Management System (SIMS) and Web-OHS, develop reports and documentation to support Business Unit reports, Safety Review Boards (SRB), SMS Review Boards (SMSRB), Corporate Safety Board (CSB), and ACM Training Review Boards (TRB)
  • The candidate should be able to participate in and lead the ACM Hazard Prevention Program and its Working Group, providing coaching, training, and facilitation aligned with Hazard Prevention Program (HPP) requirements
  • The candidate should be able to contribute to Workplace Health & Safety Committees and Policy Committee meetings by offering expert safety advice, facilitating KPI discussions, and providing updates on compliance with the Canada Labour Code
  • The candidate should be able to initiate and manage safety communication programs, ensuring timely and effective information sharing with front-line employees, based on investigations, trends, and safety reports
  • The candidate should be able to design and produce a full range of ACM Safety Awareness materials, including publications, GlobeTV segments, safety bulletins, briefing sheets, visual content, and awareness campaigns
  • The candidate should be able to maintain and manage Health & Safety content on ACM’s intranet, including updates to the H&S Hazard Registry, monitor the effectiveness of safety awareness initiatives using KPIs, provide recommendations, and follow up with key stakeholders including Corporate Safety & Environment
  • The candidate should be able to review safety program trends in collaboration with the ACM Occupational Health & Safety leadership team, support safety and operational projects by offering subject-matter expertise in health and safety practices
  • The candidate should be able to conduct safety surveys and forums, and actively participate in safety workshops to gather feedback and promote a proactive safety culture
