Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience managing both union and non-union employees

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have experience working in electrical and mechanical environments, a minimum of 3 years experience in railroad Mechanical Shopcraft or a comparable position
  • The candidate should possess a valid driver’s licence, a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • The candidate should hold a technician or technologist diploma in Mechanical or Electrical

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to coach and train employees on safe and productive work procedure, take accountability for Online Locomotive Failure Investigations and ensure follow-up with corrective actions
  • The candidate should be able to build safety compliance and improve safety results through regular efficiency tests and safety walkabouts, providing positive and constructive feedback and addressing non-compliant behavior
  • The candidate should be able to create, train staff on, audit, and enforce standard operating procedures
  • The candidate should be able to ensure safe operations as measured by accident, incident, and employee injury metrics
  • The candidate should be able to support onboarding and training activities for new employees and supervisors
  • The candidate should be able to ensure Performance Monitoring Compliance Rules (PMRC) targets, expectations, and objectives are met and monitor ongoing compliance
  • The candidate should be able to respond immediately to safety concerns and take corrective actions
  • The candidate should be able to actively participate in the Workplace Location Joint Apprentice Committee (WLJAC)
