Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a college diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Provincial Offences Officer and must be able to maintain this status while in the position

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be willing to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
  • The candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of court administration procedures and the court system
  • The candidate should have, be able to acquire, the ability to operate a desktop workstation to conduct queries through Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and Integrated Court Offences Network (ICON) terminal, as well as other standard office equipment necessary to perform duties
  • The candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle a high volume of work in a timely manner

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have university degree in a related discipline, or possess a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
  • The candidate should possess sound interpersonal skills to clearly communicate detailed information with Fare Inspectors, Special Constables, and outside authorized agencies
  • The candidate should demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment free from discrimination and harassment, help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC policies
  • The candidate should have working knowledge of TTC By-law No. 1, Trespass to Property Act, Liquor License Act, Mental Health Act, Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • The candidate should have working knowledge of law enforcement terminology and related processes Crown Briefs, subpoenas, summonses
  • The candidate should possess strong knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, City of Toronto software applications relevant to the work word processing and spreadsheets
  • The candidate should have sound knowledge and understanding of data entry procedures, with proficiencies in data accuracy, quality, and strong keyboarding skills
  • The candidate should be able to pass all applicable personal background checks as conducted from time to time

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to administer all offences, supporting evidence, and court information related to Part I and Part III Provincial Offence Act (POA) charges
  • The candidate should be able to perform daily entry and processing of POA ticket infractions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and legislated timelines
  • The candidate should be able to liaise with Prosecutors to support early resolution meetings and trial preparations
  • The candidate should be able to prepare and submit charge packages and coordinate the secure delivery and retrieval of sensitive documents and information
  • The candidate should be able to respond professionally to inquiries from Special Constables, Fare Inspectors, and other authorized external sources
  • The candidate should be able to perform other related duties as assigned in support of court operation
