Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have a High School Diploma, or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration
Experience: Candidates should have experience interacting with the public in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically fit to lift mail containers of up to 50 lbs, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods of time

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have owned or leased premises (suitable, central, and barrier-free) available one month prior to the date of hire
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to liaise with the local community with respect to Canada Post service and products
  • The candidates should be able to sell and promote postal products and services to the public and businesses
  • The candidates should be able to provide suitable premises in a central location within the community within 30 days should you be the successful candidate
  • The candidates should be able to administer the post office to meet retail hours of operation and delivery expectations
  • The candidates should be able to manage postal revenue, assets, and values
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records and prepare reports
  • The candidates should be able to assist with effective management of mail delivery routes
  • The candidates should be able to sort mail to postal boxes and supervise staff
  • The candidates should be able to keep the post office neat and presentable and maintain cleanliness in accordance with Canada Post’s standards
  • The candidates should be able to operate the post office with due diligence and efficiency
