Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have have completed high school and a have certificate in Adult Education
Experience: Candidates should have 1 full academic year of teaching experience as an adult educator in a post-secondary setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be required to teach adults in various subjects
  • The candidates should provide personal, career, and educational counseling and be culturally sensitive
  • The candidates should have proficiency in Math, English, and/or Science, Social Studies, and computer software applications, which can be acquired through the high school system
  • The candidates should have computer software application knowledge, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • The candidates should possess fluent verbal and written English communication skills
  • The candidates should have verbal and written communication skills in Inuktitut, which would be considered an asset
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills essential to this position
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Inuit language, communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate educational programming for adult students in the community
  • The candidates should be able to identify and document education needs within the community
  • The candidates should be able to provide instruction to students and support instructional staff
  • The candidates should be able to provide academic and career development counseling to students
  • The candidates should be able to assist with managing the staff and administrative functions of the Community Learning Centre
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with various individuals, organizations, companies, and government departments in the community to determine and provide adult education and training needs

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance $21,564 per year
