Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 1 season experience as an ATB Loader

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accustomed to frequent movement and physical effort, including standing, walking, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment and/or materials, and operating a variety of hand and power tools
  • The candidates should be prepared for duties carried out in an environment subject to mild to intense smoke, heat, insects, variable weather, and extended time away from amenities

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of retardant mixing, storage, and loading operations and systems and possess knowledge of ATB operations and administrative procedures
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of Hazardous Materials, management and have knowledge of handling dangerous goods
  • The candidates should exhibit organization, time management skills and should demonstrate communication and instruction skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively supervise others and have mechanical aptitude with problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have experience in Microsoft Office, specifically proficient with Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of small and large gasoline and electrical pumps
  • The candidates should have knowledge and use of various power and hand tools
  • The candidates should have knowledge and training on forklifts, propane-powered
  • The candidates should have previous supervisory experience and experience in wildfire suppression activities and Valid Class 5 Drivers

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform and supervise the mixing and loading of long and short-term chemical fire retardants into fixed-wing airtankers
  • The candidates should be able to provide training and supervision to ATB loader staff in the operation and maintenance of airtanker base facilities in a safe and efficient manner
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and maintain specified quality and quantity control of fire retardants to meet Departmental and manufacturer standards
  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for performing and assisting in airtanker base administration and maintenance

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get pro-rated annual Northern Allowance of $1.89 per hour
