Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Degree or Diploma, from a recognized post-secondary institution in Agriculture, Livestock Extension, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Project Management, Conservation or Natural Resource Enforcement, or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have experience in developing, managing, and delivering significant programs or initiatives

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should travel within the territory

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience facilitating collaborative agreements and partnerships with diverse stakeholders (First Nation governments and/or regulatory agencies)
  • The candidates should have experience in policy analysis or related roles with a focus on implementing legislated programs (compliance promotion, and livestock extension)
  • The candidates should have experience in program administration (program evaluation and reporting) and financial operations (contracts and budget management)
  • The candidates should have subject matter expertise in Animal Welfare or a related field, with the ability to influence and adapt, fostering effective partnerships
  • The candidates should possess clear and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to driving change and taking initiative
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, promoting collaboration and relationship-building
  • The candidates should exhibit tact and diplomacy in politically and culturally sensitive settings
  • The candidates should possess strong analysis and problem-solving capabilities and Conditions of employment include holding a Class 5 Driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead the development and administration of a program aimed at implementing the Animal Protection and Control Act and its associated regulations throughout the Yukon
  • The candidates should be able to manage partnerships, agreements, and contracts with community and First Nations’ governments to ensure effective delivery of essential services
  • The candidates should be able to oversee funding arrangements to guarantee the effective delivery of essential services
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to policy development and oversight of delegated authorities related to animal welfare
  • The candidates should be able to help shape the future of animal welfare in the Territory
