Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment, preferably in the railway industry

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership presence with the drive and commitment to career advancement

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor; a Locomotive Engineer qualification
  • The candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve complex issues
  • The candidates should be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and work situations, excellent communication skills and be able to provide clear and concise instructions, including over the radio
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written material in English
  • The candidates should possess or general equivalency diploma, hold a valid driver’s license
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to coordinate all train movements within the yard and on the mainline by actively supervising personnel and facilitating communication across departments to ensure compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
  • The candidate should be able to coordinate and standardize key operational processes including train arrival, classification, building, inspection, and dispatch
  • The candidate should be able to provide accountable leadership for safety, service delivery, productivity, and financial performance metrics
  • The candidate should be able to lead Train and Engine operating employees by promoting safety through observations, rule compliance discussions, and proactive engagement
  • The candidate should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain required certifications and licenses Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Engineer in accordance with industry regulations
  • The candidate should be able to assist in coordinating crew transportation to and from train locations
