Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have earned a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in higher education or a closely related field
Experience: Candidates should have experience in institutional leadership of colleges

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to conduct lectures, seminars, and academic discussions, which may involve standing for periods
  • The candidate should be able to engage in research activities, which could include reading, writing, and using computer equipment
  • The candidate should be capable of attending departmental meetings, conferences, and academic events on campus
  • The candidate should be able to mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues

  • The candidates will be required to have an established international reputation and are expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level.

  • The candidates should demonstrate interest and experience in teaching at the graduate level, including demonstrated experience in doctoral supervision and/or other forms of graduate mentorship and training
  • The candidates should be able to maintain an outstanding, internationally competitive research program in relevant areas
  • The candidates should have responsibilities that include teaching in the Higher Education graduate program
  • The candidates should supervise doctoral and master’s theses
  • The candidates should contribute to service in LHAE and to OISE
  • The candidates should work collaboratively with related units across OISE

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to understand the evolution of college systems and their place within tertiary/higher education systems, including system design and the position of colleges vis-à-vis universities and schools
  • The candidates should be familiar with governance, policies, and practices in colleges
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of pathways between colleges and universities and between colleges and the labor market
  • The candidates should be capable of managing relations between colleges and schools and universities
  • The candidates should be able to address issues related to student access, equity, and social inclusion in colleges
  • The candidates should understand the role of colleges in supporting local and regional economic, social, and cultural development
  • The candidates should have expertise in applied higher education or higher vocational education and other forms of provision
  • The candidates should be well-versed in other areas of policy and practice concerning colleges
