Government of Nunavut’s Department of Executive and Intergovernmental Affairs based in Iqaluit, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of ATIPP advisor. Government of Nunavut’s Department of Executive and Intergovernmental Affairs facilitates coordination and collaboration between the Nunavut government and other jurisdictions. It manages intergovernmental relations, strategic partnerships, and policy development. Through negotiation and advocacy, the department promotes Nunavut’s interests at the national and international levels. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Undergraduate degree in business or public administration, social sciences, law, information management or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have plus two (2) years of experience developing and analyzing policy, programs and systems in a large organization or government setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The candidates should understand that this is a Position of Trust and requires a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • The candidates should possess fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Manager, Access to Information, Protection and Privacy (ATIPP) and able to lead the development and coordination of ATIPP strategic planning
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with the Nunavut ATIPP Act and align government policies and procedures with the GN’s access and privacy regime
  • The candidates should be able to review and analyze the government’s legislative and policy frameworks and make recommendations for improvements to the access and privacy regime
  • The candidates should be able to work with other government departments, the Information and Privacy Commissioner, and Federal/Provincial/Territorial groups on access and privacy related matters affecting government services and operations
  • The candidates should be able to develop official submissions regarding ATIPP, including research reports, Cabinet requests for decision, legislative proposals, discussion papers, information items, options papers, and decision papers
  • The candidates should be able to provide subject expertise, authoritative advice, and analysis on legislative and policy direction regarding access and privacy issues
  • The candidates should be able to support the Manager and Director in working with departmental ATIPP coordinators, management, political staff, legal personnel, and others to develop and implement ATIPP legislation, policies, and procedures throughout the GN
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain clear and efficient interdepartmental and public facing communications and products related to ATIPP

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance of $16,008 per year
