Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Undergraduate degree in engineering, project management
Experience: Candidates should have A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of strategic and operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures and budgets

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in best practices used in the industry to manage energy use and emissions related to buildings and project management
  • The candidates should possess a professional designation (P.Eng, C. Tech, C.E.T, Journeyman), project management professional designation (PMP), and certified energy manager designation (CEM)
  • The candidates should have knowledge of ISO 50001 and ISO 14001, and knowledge of the design and operation of buildings, energy audits, energy retrofits, and systems for monitoring energy use
  • The candidates should demonstrate alignment with the Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, and Excellent, fostering an environment for others to do the same
  • The candidates should demonstrate the foundational competencies, key behaviors, and attributes of the City’s six leadership competencies: Courage, Inclusivity, Values-Based Influencer, Collaborative Networker, Systems Thinker, and Creative Innovator

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to align with the requirements of the NRCan funding agreement and complete a gap analysis that will develop the full work plan for the implementation of an ISO 50001 compliant Energy Management System for a pilot of 10 facilities
  • The candidates should be able to work with staff across multiple departments, including the engineering team, Enviso team, lifecycle and asset management team, utility supply team, facility maintenance team, and facility operators to establish and implement an ISO 50001 compliant system for these 10 facilities
  • The candidates should be able to develop an additional scope of work and support the hiring of consultants, contractors, or additional hires required to implement this program at the City
  • The candidates should be able to lead or support the development of Policy, Procedures, and Processes to support project implementation
  • The candidates should be able to work with the Enviso team to evaluate and potentially integrate the ISO 50001 concepts into the ISO 14000 environmental management system
  • The candidates should be able to align ISO 50001 principles with existing building energy management programs such as the Monitoring and Verification Program, BOMA Best Certification Program, Benchmarking Program, energy auditing, and Energy Management Information Systems
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all aspects of the NRCan funding agreement are met and develop a project charter that reflects the requirements of the NRCan agreement
