Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience: Candidates should have cake decorating experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be Food Safety Certification – Level 1 certified on their first day in the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to slices half-sheet cakes by hand using a 16” knife or with a slicing machine, placing them on pre-cut cardboard cake pads for handling
- The candidates should be able to apply filling between layers and frost cakes using a spatula, garnishing them by hand
- The candidates should be able to fill pastry bags by scooping mixed frostings from bowls or buckets and squeeze and twist frosting-filled pastry bags with various tips attached to create borders, figures, and writing per Costco formulas, patterns, and department production procedures while following standards for quality and consistency of the finished product
- The candidates should be able to read member special orders to determine appropriate flavors, colors, decorative patterns, and personalized writing for cakes, and telephone members if instructions are unclear
- The candidates should be able to remove cheesecakes from baking pans, place them on cake pads, apply toppings with a spatula, and garnish per Costco formulas
- The candidates should be able to use a whipping cream machine and slice fresh fruit for application to baked products
- The candidates should be able to assemble pre-cut cardboard cake boxes, box cakes, and place them on a large wheeled rack, transferring the rack to a cooler, freezer, or wrapping area
- The candidates should be able to keep the decorating area clean and clear of debris while following safety and security procedures
- The candidates should be able to assist with other bakery duties as needed and provide prompt and courteous member service
