Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have three years of related driving and moving experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Provincial Class “G” driver’s license
- The candidates should demonstrate the physical ability to perform required duties
- The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in written form
- The candidates will be required to complete a Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act training program
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to operate a number of light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment under general supervision
- The candidates should be able to perform maintenance functions and move furniture and equipment
- The candidates should be able to direct casual workers on specific projects
- The candidates should be able to drive and operate heavy trucks, vans, pickups, and cars in making collections or deliveries for the department
- The candidates should be able to move furniture, heavy equipment, nitrogen tanks, and dangerous goods, load furniture and heavy equipment onto trucks, and deliver them to appropriate destinations following specific directions and regulations
- The candidates should be able to set up furniture and equipment for events as directed
- The candidates should be able to operate a variety of lifting devices
- The candidates should be able to direct casual service workers in performing assigned tasks on specific projects
- The candidates should be able to provide a customer with an estimate of work if required
- The candidates should be able to work on campus cleaning details, collect waste and recyclable materials
- The candidates should be able to maintain records of mileage and fuel used on vehicles
- The candidates should be able to change tires, make simple adjustments, and clean vehicles as directed
- The candidates should be able to perform standard routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment and advise on equipment repairs
- The candidates should be able to operate snow maintenance equipment and perform other related duties as required
