Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should be currently enrolled in post-secondary education in Social Sciences (preferably BSW) or will be graduating in the next 6 months
Experience: Candidates should have experience in case management (including intakes, assessments, service coordination, counselling, and monitoring) in a social service setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • The candidates should work during after hours stand-by rotation and occasional extended/overnight travel
  • The candidates should have strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks/assignments in a high-volume work environment with competing demands
  • The candidates should possess the ability to conduct safety assessments and conduct child abuse investigations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should have and maintain a valid full stage class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle with the ability to travel on government business within the Province of Manitoba
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences, including detailed reports and deliver difficult messages or information to clients
  • The candidates should be proficient with MS Office applications (Word and Outlook) and have knowledge of case management
  • The candidates should have the ability to work from a strength-based social work practice and identify signs of child abuse and neglect
  • The candidates should possess effective interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for the full range of statutory child welfare services to families and children within the designated geographical area
  • The candidates should be able to effective in case management skills, as well as establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals, families, service providers, and agencies
  • The candidates should be able to specialized under the CFS Worker title, such as completing child abuse/protection investigations, providing support on open family files, fulfilling guardianship and permanency responsibilities for children in care, and recruiting and supporting foster parents/kinship caregivers
  • The candidates should be able to handle intake, conduct abuse investigations, and develop case plans to ensure child safety and coordinate support services, work with collateral community agencies, and assist with after-hour services to children and families
  • The candidates should be able to achieve the full working level based on a developmental learning plan and play a key role in the management of protection, voluntary family service, and child in care cases
