Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of four years’ related experience in municipal civil infrastructure design

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge and application of engineering principles related to hydraulics, hydrology, and rainwater management
  • The candidates should exhibit knowledge of Organizational Quality Management processes and frameworks
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, written communication, and organizational skills, including excellent written and verbal communication and report writing
  • The candidates should display exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize actions in response to numerous and diverse demands
  • The candidates should be capable of developing and maintaining positive, productive relationships at all levels in the organization and with external stakeholders
  • The candidates should possess strong conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to design utilities, oversee construction, and manage projects effectively
  • The candidates should be able to exercise diplomacy and tact in various situations
  • The candidates should be proficient in the use of computer design and modeling software such as Bluebeam, PCSWMM, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD
  • The candidates should hold a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to complete storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure design review for construction by City or private crews
  • The candidates should be able to provide project coordination for City-sponsored sewer projects or developer-delivered sewer projects
  • The candidates should be able to perform field reviews on sewer assets to ensure compliance with design and sewer standards
  • The candidates should be able to review designs and/or tender documents for storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure capital designs
  • The candidates should be able to review construction and post-construction documentation of sewer infrastructure, including but not limited to CCTV Inspection reports
  • The candidates should be able to complete post-construction evaluation for project closing tasks
  • The candidates should be able to investigate storm events and flooding locations and liaise with Sewer Operations, Risk Management, and the public
  • The candidates should be able to complete Sewer and Development Permit application reviews for sewer infrastructure rezoning requirements
  • The candidates should be able to communicate and liaise with outside agencies, the public, internal branches to discuss sewer system operation
