Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have two years of progressively responsible experience related to land sales, including legal agreements and the tendering process

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to recognize and address problems quickly and effectively
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy
  • The candidates should be able to manage and prioritize numerous tasks, demonstrate the ability to maintain and prepare reports from moderately complex records
  • The candidates should have the ability to interpret and make decisions in accordance with established policies and practices

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have graduated from a recognized business college, possess a typing speed of 55 words per minute
  • The candidates should have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, demonstrate knowledge of business English, including land-related terminology and arithmetic
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the land development process, including land titles, legal descriptions, interest calculations, easements, and property grades
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of administrative functions for the Department, including processing Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables, administering rebate and incentive programs, and taking minutes at divisional meetings
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the Documentum filing system for the Department, including opening, closing, and migrating files to storage, and assist in maintaining a bring-forward system
  • The candidates should be able to answer in-person and telephone inquiries concerning land availability and purchasing procedures
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with purchasers, contractors, lawyers, civic departments, and the public regarding land sales
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate, prepare, and revise lot sale packages for distribution to customers, sales rooms, trade shows, and builders upon request
  • The candidates should be able to maintain lot sale files and type various correspondence related to legal sale agreements, title transfer requests, and file closures
  • The candidates should be able to process land sales transactions for single-family lots, including preparing and accepting down payments, issuing receipts, and preparing lot sales agreements
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the preparation of lot allocations and tender packages by gathering information, maps, and preparing/placing advertisements
  • The candidates should be able to assist the Land Development/Real Estate group with various administrative tasks as approved by the Finance and Sales Manager, provide back-up support for other Clerk positions
  • The candidates should be able to assist with training new staff and perform other related duties
