Clinical nurse educator

Government of Nunavut’s Health department based in Rankin Inlet, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Clinical nurse educator. Government of Nunavut’s Health department oversees healthcare services within the territory. It provides medical care, public health programs, and health promotion initiatives to Nunavummiut. Through community outreach and collaboration with stakeholders, the department addresses health disparities and promotes wellness. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English or French Language
Education: Candidates should have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have three (3) years of experience in the role of nurse practitioner, community health nurse, nurse in charge, emergency room nurse, or critical care nurse

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have at least one year of experience in training in an adult learning setting, new nurse orientation program, internship, or mentoring programs
  • The candidates should be eligible to register with CANNN
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • The candidates should possess fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to promote quality, culturally safe nursing practice, continuous quality improvement initiatives, optimal health outcomes, and positive patient healthcare experiences
  • The candidates should be able to play a critical role in promoting quality nursing services by assisting nurses to acquire the professional competencies required to succeed in their nursing role
  • The candidates should be able to assess competencies, design learning plans, support professional development activities, and coordinate and deliver orientation, education, and training sessions for Nurses working in a variety of roles throughout Nunavut
  • The candidates should be able to promote equitable healthcare services throughout the territory by ensuring high clinical standards are met by nurses delivering those services
  • The candidates should be able to work with the nursing education team to increase patient satisfaction, increase public confidence in the healthcare system, and impact the health and well-being of Nunavummiut through the development and maintenance of a competent nursing workforce

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get medical and dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, relocation privileges and Northern Allowance $24,317 – $24,747 per year
  • The candidates will get recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service and premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year
