Salary: $20.00 to $25.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Cambridge Bay, NU
Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence Travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Relocation costs covered by employer, Room and board provided, Remote location, and Construction site

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Area of specialization: Snow removal
Construction specialization: Residential, Poured concrete
Equipment and machinery experience: Bobcats, Reciprocating saws, Circular saws, Concrete saws, Grinding machine, Jackhammers, Air compressors, Nail guns, Drills, Small front end loaders, Compactor, Sledgehammer, and Hand tools
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and Cellular phone
Credentials: Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Driving record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and able to work at heights
  • The candidates should be capable of working in confined spaces and able to work in dusty environments
  • The candidates should be able to work in cold/refrigerated conditions
  • The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines, capable of working under pressure, and willing to work overtime when required
  • The candidates should be comfortable with physically demanding tasks, able to handle heavy loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs), and skilled in weight handling up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • The candidates should possess manual dexterity, demonstrate attention to detail, have hand-eye coordination, and be willing to perform repetitive tasks

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate accuracy and prioritize client focus
  • The candidates should exhibit dependability and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication and display flexibility
  • The candidates should be reliable and team players, as well as hardworking

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to load, unload, and transport construction materials, assist in framing houses, erecting walls, building roofs, and performing routine maintenance work
  • The candidates should be able to erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades, mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt, and clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
  • The candidates should be able to assist in demolishing buildings, clean and pile salvaged materials, and remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
