Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a high-school diploma or a GED
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of experience with cooking
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have a current food handlers’ certificate (preferred)
- The candidate should have the ability to read and follow detailed recipes/instructions as required and communicate efficiently in a team-oriented setting
- The candidate should have the ability to provide a clear criminal record check
- The candidate should have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to plan and prepare meals according to established standards, procedures, recipes, and menus, including preparing special meals to meet appropriate therapeutic menu modifications according to established guidelines
- The candidates should assist with the preparation of food for special functions (e.g., catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards
- The candidates should report any recipe shortages, discrepancies, or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner
- The candidates should clean and sanitize the cooking station daily and maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards. They are responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food
- The candidates should follow disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc
