Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a high-school diploma or a GED
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of experience with cooking

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to clean and sanitize the cooking station daily and maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards. They should also be responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a current food handlers’ certificate (preferred)
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to read and follow detailed recipes/instructions as required and communicate efficiently in a team-oriented setting
  • The candidates should be able to provide a clear criminal record check
  • The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan and prepare meals according to established standards, procedures, recipes, and menus, including preparing special meals to meet appropriate therapeutic menu modifications according to established guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the preparation of food for special functions (e.g., catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards
  • The candidates should be able to report any recipe shortages, discrepancies, or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to follow disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc.
