Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have at least 1+ year(s) of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work shifts, including assignments during non-standard business hours that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • The candidates should be able to obtain Reliability Status screening from a duly authorized department or agency of the Government of Canada
  • The candidates should be able to verify identity, background, education, professional credentials, references, credit history, and criminal background
  • The candidates should be able to complete security questionnaires and security interviews if required for Reliability Status screening

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have develop an understanding of standard processes for installing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT data center technologies and equipment and acquire knowledge of cabling infrastructure, network, server, and storage equipment interactions
  • The candidates should have possess GED, or equivalent and have basic knowledge of computer hardware and components OR equivalent experience
  • The candidates should be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • The candidates should have meet the requirement of five (5) years of continuous Canadian residency and not have lived or worked outside of Canada for more than six (6) months during that time unless Microsoft deems the clearance obtainable
  • The candidates should have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components AND
  • The candidates should have applicable certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to review Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and understand their impact on work execution while seeking clarification and comply with data center policies, procedures, and deadlines while escalating compliance-related concerns
  • The candidates should be able to complete assigned tickets efficiently, aligning with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) per task type and perform hardware setup, startup, and shutdown following written instructions and standard procedures
  • The candidates should be able to verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling to ensure safety compliance and adherence to Network Design Templates (NDTs) and conduct basic diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify technical issues and replace faulty components with minimal disruption
  • The candidates should be able to immediately report technical or safety-related incidents and participate in incident resolution efforts and execute decommissions, memory upgrades, OS rebuilds, and infrastructure refreshes while following standard procedures
  • The candidates should be able to process data-bearing devices (DBDs) for destruction or confirm their proper eradication and maintain awareness of KPIs through reporting dashboards and monthly performance discussions
  • The candidates should be able to complete required training, observe experienced technicians, and obtain or maintain relevant certifications and comply with Environmental & Health Safety (EHS) policies, use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and report safety concerns proactively
  • The candidates should be able to complete security and data management training, escort vendors as needed, and report security concerns and contribute to a positive team environment by sharing knowledge, participating in meetings, and collaborating across shifts for smooth handovers
