Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or possess equivalent experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to work shifts, including non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have GED, or equivalent, and possess basic knowledge of computer hardware and components, or have equivalent experience
- The candidates should be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
- The candidates should be able to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security screening with the Government of Canada; Microsoft will support this process on a case-by-case basis
- The candidates should have applicable certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work under guidance and supervision to develop an understanding of standard processes for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT datacenter technologies and equipment
- The candidates should be able to build foundational knowledge of the functions and interactions between cabling infrastructure, network, server, and storage equipment, review Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and understand their impact on work execution, while seeking clarification when information is lacking
- The candidates should be able to provide feedback on process changes to experienced technicians and/or direct-line management, comply with datacenter business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines with support from more experienced technicians
- The candidates should be able to escalate issues related to compliance or operational assurance activities to direct-line management, complete assigned tickets efficiently, aligning with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and seek guidance on complex tasks
- The candidates should be able to understand and follow effective execution order strategies for assigned tasks with assistance from experienced staff, prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic hardware startups and shutdowns racks, hard drives, switches) according to provided instructions
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with other technicians to ensure compliance with procedures and safety requirements, learn and follow post-execution verification procedures for grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling in line with safety protocols and deployment standards
- The candidates should be able to recognize and escalate errors in deployment standards or Network Design Templates (NDTs) to appropriate personnel for resolution
