Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a recognized legal or administrative assistant program or other related post-secondary education and or related training
Experience: Candidates should have experience with Criminal Court Automated Information Network (CCAIN)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work overtime as necessary with little or no notice
  • The candidates should be capable of working flexible hours as needed to meet workload demands

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening and should provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks
  • The candidates should have experience performing clerical or administrative duties, including data entry, answering phones, responding to emails, preparing documents, and manual and electronic filing
  • The candidates should have experience providing excellent client or customer service and should possess strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet strict deadlines while handling multiple tasks in high-pressure situations
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accuracy and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a respectful workplace
  • The candidates should have excellent English verbal communication skills and have excellent written communication skills
  • The candidates should have experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as knowledge of policies, procedures, and rules of the court

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to receive, monitor, and update criminal charges or Court Information accurately and efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to enter information into the Criminal Court Automated Information Network (CCAIN) in an accurate and efficient manner
  • The candidates should be able to prepare, publish, print, and distribute the daily court dockets for the Thompson Court Centre and its 14 circuit locations
  • The candidates should be able to type a variety of court orders/papers accurately and efficiently, including highly complex documents
  • The candidates should be able to create and enter Warrants for Arrest, Certificates of Failure to Appear, Warrants for Witness, Orders for Committal, Summonses, and Release Orders on CCAIN
  • The candidates should be able to prioritize typing court papers according to custody status and other relevant factors
