Database developer

Pacific Salmon Commission based in Vancouver, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Database developer. Pacific Salmon Commission is an international organization dedicated to the conservation and management of Pacific salmon stocks. Through scientific research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, the commission develops management plans and regulations to protect salmon populations and their habitat while also supporting commercial, recreational, and Indigenous fisheries. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $83,961 to $102,763 annually (To be negotiated) 37.5 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract (ending: 2025-08-31) Full time – Remote work available
Location: Vancouver, BC

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or computer and information sciences, general or computer science or engineering, other or biology/biological sciences, general or mathematics, general
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Computer and technology knowledge: Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), MS Access, MS SQL Server, Word processing software, Presentation software, MS Excel, and Computer programming
Industrial processes and products experience: Quality assurance and control
Additional sector experience: Fisheries

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to design and develop databases
  • The candidates should be able to prepare reports, manuals, and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of software
