Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as Grade 10 or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should expect normal physical effort
  • The candidates should anticipate normal mental effort
  • The candidates should be prepared for normal visual/auditory effort
  • The candidates should be aware that the work environment is an event facility
  • The candidates should be willing to work outside in all weather conditions continuously
  • The candidates should understand that exposure to abusive people is rare
  • The candidates should be flexible to work irregular hours

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out job-related instructions
  • The candidates should be capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • The candidates should be able to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
  • The candidates should be prepared to obtain criminal record clearance

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform door attendant and ushering functions at various city facilities
  • The candidates should be able to set up turnstiles at entrances prior to events and monitor patrons entering events at various facilities
  • The candidates should be able to check, tear, and count tickets
  • The candidates should be able to assist patrons with section and seat location and respond to complaints regarding seat assignments
  • The candidates should be able to notify the Head Door Attendant of unruly patrons as required and contact the maintenance section for clean-up or equipment repairs
  • The candidates should be able to lock and secure doors following events
