Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should provide a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should be willing to learn procedures in a regulatory environment, communicate effectively in English, be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidate should work shifts ranging from 4 to 10 hours, with overtime, be available to work Monday to Sunday with start times between 06:30 and 17:45 hrs, and end times between 15:30 and midnight
- The candidate should have rest days rotating through Sunday/Monday, Monday/Tuesday, Tuesday/Wednesday, Wednesday/Thursday, Thursday/Friday, Friday/Saturday, or Saturday/Sunday, be willing to work overnight shifts during shift coverage, as elected by the employee
- The candidate should be prepared to travel to Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Penticton, Vernon, and West Kelowna, attend training in Vancouver for 2-3 weeks, understand that no long haul or cross border driving
- The candidate should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 136 kg (300 lbs) on a wheeled platform, uphold a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity
Other Requirements:
The candidates should possess a valid British Columbia Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to utilize their driving and transportation experience to ensure safe and compliant transport of blood and blood products, maintaining appropriate temperature controls at all times
- The candidate should be able to ensure the safety of all employees, donors, and volunteers travelling with them by adhering to established safety procedures
- The candidate should be able to conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to verify that vehicles and equipment are in proper working order and complete all necessary documentation accurately
- The candidate should be able to support the collections team by greeting donors and assisting with appointment bookings or rescheduling, delivering excellent customer service
- The candidate should be able to assist in setting up technology systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile collection events, applying their familiarity with technology and quick learning abilities
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies at donor sites, as well as load and unload materials upon arrival and return
