Salary: $18.00 to $25.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 45 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Stratford, PE & Charlottetown, PE
Shifts: Day, To be determined, Early Morning, 07:00 to 15:00
Work setting: Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Remote location, and Residential

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 3 to less than 5 years
Area of specialization: Drywall taping/patching 
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working at heights as required by the job and able to work in dusty environments
  • The candidates should possess hand-eye coordination for precise tasks and be able to handle heavy loads as part of their duties
  • The candidates should be physically capable of meeting the demands of a physically demanding job and be comfortable standing for extended periods during work
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively under pressure and be capable of handling weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs) as required by the job

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to instruct apprentices and apply successive coats of compound, sand seams, and joints
  • The candidates should be able to apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster, clean and prepare surfaces, and cure freshly plastered surfaces
  • The candidates should be able to cut and install metal corner beads, fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids, and place panels for acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • The candidates should be able to fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound, finish corners and angles, and create decorative designs in the finish coat
  • The candidates should be able to measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets, mix plaster ingredients, and mold and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • The candidates should be able to position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, smooth out excess compound, and allow the coat to dry
  • The candidates should be able to spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings, tape over joints using a taping machine, and embed tape in the compound
  • The candidates should be able to trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces, attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring, and cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • The candidates should be able to install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath, install corner beads and wire mesh around beams, and install exterior and interior steel studs
  • The candidates should be able to install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools, prepare wall and ceiling layouts, and work at heights on scaffolding or swing stages
  • The candidates should be able to erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
