Work setting: Child care center, Before and after school programs, and Day care centre or nursery school

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Student status: Full-time enrollment
Experience with special needs children: children with a physical disability, children with an intellectual disability, children with behavioral issues, children with asthma, and children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and be able to work effectively in noisy environments
  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail in their work and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be able to perform activities such as bending, crouching, and kneeling

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should exhibit punctuality in their attendance and tasks, demonstrate dependability in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities, and possess efficient interpersonal skills for effective communication
  • The candidates should showcase excellent oral communication skills and demonstrate flexibility in their approach to tasks and responsibilities
  • The candidates should demonstrate reliability in their work performance, be able to collaborate effectively as a team player, and uphold strong values and ethics in their professional conduct
  • The candidates should showcase creativity in problem-solving and innovation

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties and maintain daycare equipment
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling and encourage children to express creativity through various mediums
  • The candidates should be able to synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents, assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs for children’s development, and keep records
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in proper habits and prepare snacks and arrange rooms for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, and plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s well-being
  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
