Salary: $20.07 to $37.07 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 40 hours per week

Location: 1001 Lewes BLVD Whitehorse, YT Y1A 3J1
Shifts: Day
Work setting: Child care centre, Urban area, Relocation costs not covered by employer, Day care centre, and nursery school

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate punctuality and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should exhibit flexibility in their work approach and demonstrate reliability in their tasks
  • The candidates should be team players and showcase creativity
  • The candidates should have the ability to multitask

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, as well as develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote their overall development
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling activities, assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that foster children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, and lead activities such as telling stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, encouraging children to express creativity through various activities, and guiding them in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment, assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and have knowledge of licensing regulations
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, and attend staff meetings to address children’s progress and issues
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
