Salary: $18.06 to $35.09 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 2 Stead Pl, St. John’s, NL A1G 1E7, Canada
Shifts: Day, 08:00 to 16:30
Transportation information: Own transportation, and public transportation is available
Work setting: Child care centre, urban area
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Child development worker (ECE level 2) and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be comfortable working in an air-conditioned environment
- The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail in their work
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking tasks
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be punctual and dependable in their work and possess efficient interpersonal skills
- The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities, show flexibility in their approach to tasks, and possess interpersonal awareness
- The candidates should exhibit good judgment in decision-making, be reliable in meeting deadlines and commitments, and be effective team players
- The candidates should uphold values and ethics in their work, demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and task completion, and be honest and trustworthy
- The candidates should have the ability to multitask
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development and prepare tailored learning plans
- The candidates should be able to assist with housekeeping and cooking duties and engage in storytelling
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, and guide them in proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs supporting children’s development and organize activities for school-age children
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and supervise, train, and coordinate staff, trainees, or volunteers
- The candidates should be able to observe children for learning or behavioral issues, communicate with parents, and discuss children’s progress and problems at staff meetings
- The candidates should be able to order supplies, keep records, and ensure compliance with licensing regulations and guidelines for behavior
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, and maintain a safe environment for children
