The Heart of Riverdale Community Center provides the highest level of child care to families. Our center is designed to make children feel comfortable as they learn and interact with other students. Our focus is not only on the education of the children we care for but for their well being, emotional growth, mental health, and physical fitness. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $24.21 to $35.00 hourly (to be negotiated) / 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Whitehorse, YT
Shifts: Day, Evening, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, Public transportation is available
Work setting: Before and after school programs, Willing to relocate
Supervision: 3-4 people
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Teaching specialization: Music theory
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2)
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test, Vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically demanding
- The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk for extended periods
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be punctual, should have excellent oral communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player
- The candidate should have values and ethics
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to tell stories, supervise staff, trainees or volunteers, order supplies and equipment
- The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- The candidates should be able to provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, and also be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
- The candidates should be able to supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
- The candidates should be able to teach dance techniques and artistic interpretation
