Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Education Degree
Experience: Candidates should have experience in multi-grade classrooms using Differentiated Instruction

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be eligible for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate
  • The candidates should have a strong background in Elementary Education and teaching in the core subject areas of English Language Arts, Math, and Science
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have recent teaching experience in a K-12 environment
  • The candidates should have excellent classroom management skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge of, or a commitment to become knowledgeable about, the prescribed NWT Curricula in Language Arts and related areas
  • The candidates should have experience using data to inform instructional decisions
  • The candidates should have training in Literacy and Numeracy is a prerequisite for the role
  • The candidates should have understanding of and experience in the integration of technology into classroom instruction are important qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to create and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the Beaufort-Delta Education Council’s curriculum standards, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for elementary students
  • The candidates should be able to assess students’ academic progress through various formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents, and collaborating with colleagues to address individual learning needs
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in professional development opportunities, staying abreast of best practices in elementary education, and contributing to a collaborative and supportive school community at Beaufort-Delta Education Council
